Status Inversion: A Strange World

Most of the things people consider high status today will not be high status for much longer.

Today, you go to the gym and get ripped.

Tomorrow, you take a pill that makes you ripped.

Today, you go to Uni to study for a good job.

Tomorrow, Uni is perceived as a waste of time that leads to nothing but debt and unemployment.

Today, teenagers learn how to drive - a small status indicator that they’re ‘cool’.

Tomorrow, they will take a self-driving Tesla.

Today, you work hard to accumulate knowledge, communicate that knowledge to others, and receive money for it in the form of a white collar job.

Tomorrow, all knowledge work becomes a commodity performed by AGI.
